Mobile equipment transportation frames to DNV 2.7-1
Mobile equipment transportation frames and CCU’s to BS EN 12079-1 and DNV 2.7-1 current editions.
One example of this work was when Laser Gulf executed all associated engineering and design activities for cementing unit and surge can transportation frames. In order for this equipment to be utilised offshore it needed to be enclosed within a transportation frame designed, fabricated, tested and certified to the requirements of BS EN 12079-1 2006.
Road transportation restrictions meant that no load including trailer can exceed 3.5 metres in height inclusive of the lift padeyes. This was extremely difficult to achieve as the overall height of the CPS-361 cementing unit was 3.5 metres excluding the frame. Therefore some pipe work and valves were removed during transportation in order to stay within the 3.5 metres. Due to these height limitations the CPS-361 cementing unit’s operational functionality was impacted so the frame was designed to be removable and a method devised to reinstall the frame at a higher level. This was achieved by making the vertical frames pinned for easy removal and providing extension legs at the 4 corners of the frame.
